What were the main considerations when choosing an EPSON robot?
"For the project, we had to work with a combination of low takt time and high repeatability which made some of the other options drop out," explains Bram Surewaard, Mechanical Engineer at DEVOTEQ.
"In addition, the project was in a hurry so the short delivery time of the SCARA robot was a big plus. During the contact with HUPICO about the possible implementation of the SCARA robot, good thought was given and thus the EPSON SCARA was eventually chosen."
The proof & concept was the deciding factor for you to start working together.
Bram stresses the importance of preparation and expertise in the process.
"The first question we had was whether it could be said with certainty whether SCARA would be able to grab the components of the different positions in the short time.
"After sharing a 3D model with HUPICO, we soon got back a demo video showing that the robot would be able to handle this just fine. In addition, we received the control software at an early stage, allowing us to work with it while writing the software.
During the software phase, we also always got good and quick answers from HUPICO to open questions or points where we got stuck."
What feedback did you receive from the end customer on the completed project?
"The EPSON robot itself has worked well in the complete system from day one. Even stronger itself, we are achieving a higher speed than previously envisaged."
